Friday April 20th announcement, Moya Greene is to retire this September.
Moya Greene has done eight years, from a break-even to almost 500 million profit this year. Friday morning share price remained stable over £5.60.
Moya Greene will leave the board in July. She arrived at Royal Mail from Canada Post where she held the top slot. The privatisation in 2013/14 and a long-running dispute on pensions have been at the heart of her term.
Moya Greene will pass the baton to Rico Back who is currently head of GLS, European mail partner to Royal Mail. Sue Whalley is tipped for chief exec of Royal Mail Post and Parcels.

When Moya joined in the summer of 2010, the company was balance sheet insolvent. Since then, Royal Mail has been transformed.
Moya Greene was the first-ever female boss of the Royal Mail; a law graduate born in Canada, she took the top slot at Royal Mail from Adam Crozier in 2010.
The share price from privatisation rose more than £2 to today's £5.60. Twenty per-cent of the workforce are tipped to hold shares in the Royal Mail.
