Louise Margaret Haigh has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sheffield Heeley since 2015. She has served as Secretary of State for Transport since 2024. She served as Shadow Secretary of State for Northern Ireland from 2020 to 2021. Louise Haigh was born 1987 in Sheffield, she was educated at Sheffield High School before studying government and economics at the London School of Economics LSE, but did not complete the course, and opted to study politics at the University of Nottingham. From 2012 until her election in 2015, Haigh worked for Aviva as public policy manager, responsible for corporate governance and responsible investment policy. Shadow minister, in September 2015, Haigh was appointed Shadow Minister for Civil Service and Digital Reform. The role, newly expanded under Jeremy Corbyn, covered the Government's digital strategy, the Freedom of Information Act, data security and privacy. On 10 October 2016, she was made Shadow Minister for the Digital Economy. Haigh served in this role during the passage of the Digital Economy Act (2017) and introduced a number of amendments. On 3 July 2017, she was made Shadow Policing Minister. On 6 April 2020, Haigh replaced Tony Lloyd as the interim Shadow Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, following Lloyd's hospitalisation as a result of the COVID-19 virus. On 28 April 2020, Lloyd resigned as Shadow Northern Ireland Secretary to focus on recovery. She is the second woman after Mo Mowlam to serve as the Shadow Secretary of State for Northern Ireland. Role as Shadow Secretary of State for Transport (2021 to 2024 election) - On 29 November 2021, during the shadow cabinet reshuffle, Haigh was appointed as the Shadow Secretary of State for Transport On 25 April 2024, Haigh revealed Labour's plans for the renationalisation of British rail, pledging to do this in the first term of a Labour government.

Lilian Rachel Greenwood, Member of Parliament for Nottingham South since 2010. A former union official, she served as the Shadow Secretary of State for Transport in Jeremy Corbyn's shadow cabinet from 2015 until her resignation in 2016, and as a shadow transport minister under opposition leader Ed Miliband from 2011 to 2015. On the back benches, Greenwood chaired the Transport Select Committee from 2017 to 2020, and the Commons Finance Committee from 2020 to 2021. She served as the Opposition Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Commons between 2021 and 2023.

Lilian Greenwood was born 1966 in Bolton, Lancashire. She attended St. Catharine's College, Cambridge. Selected as the Labour Party candidate for the 2010 general election. Shortly after her election, she joined the Transport Select Committee, subsequently appointed as an assistant opposition whip. In late September 2011, she was promoted by Labour leader Ed Miliband to the role of Shadow Minister for Rail, a position she held until her re-election in the 2015 general election. Following the election of Jeremy Corbyn as Leader of the Labour Party, on 14 September 2015 she was promoted to the Shadow cabinet as the Shadow Secretary of State for Transport. Greenwood returned to the opposition front bench in May 2021, when she was appointed by Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer as the Opposition Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Commons for legislation, succeeding Alan Campbell following his promotion to Chief Whip.

Michael Kane MP for Wythenshawe and Sale East since 2014. He graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with a BA in Social Sciences in 1997 and a PGCE in 1999. Kane joined the Labour Party at 18. He has described himself as a "Blairite". In 1991 he was elected to Manchester City Council in Northenden ward. He was re-elected in 1995, 1999, 2003 and 2004. In July 2013, Kane became the acting chief executive of Movement for Change, an organisation set up by David Miliband to run local political campaigns and train organisers. Michael Kane was elected as MP for Wythenshawe and Sale East in 2014. At the 2015 general election, Kane was re-elected.

In October 2016, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn appointed Kane to the Shadow Cabinet as Shadow Minister for Education with responsibility for Schools. Kane was again re-elected at the snap 2017 general election. He was again re-elected at the 2019 general election,

 

Simon Lightwood MP Wakefield and Rothwell

Simon Robert Lightwood MP for Wakefield and Rothwell. From the 2022 by-election until June 2024, he represented Wakefield. He was Shadow Minister for Local Transport from 2022.

 

Lightwood was born in 1980 and has a degree in theatre acting from Bretton Hall College. He was a case worker for Mary Creagh, MP for the Wakefield constituency from 2005 to 2019. He later worked for the National Health Service and has served on the Labour Party's National Policy Forum as a Yorkshire representative. At the time of running for parliament, he was head of communications for Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. At the by-election held on 23 June 2022, Lightwood was elected as MP with a 4,925 majority. At the 2022 Labour Party Conference, Lightwood was appointed Shadow Minister for Local Transport.
